HIV/Aids Workshop
The
HIV Workshop helps participants understand HIV/AIDS and its
treatment. The AIDS Workshop can be presented as part of a
corporate wellness program, or to faith-based groups and community
groups.
HIV is an acronym for “Human Immune Deficiency Virus.” HIV is a
virus that infects blood and hinders one’s ability to fight
disease. AIDS is an acronym for “Acquired Immune Deficiency
Syndrome.” AIDS is the disease caused by HIV, and is passed
through body fluids from one person to another.
Some ways HIV can be passed between people include:
- Sex
- Sharing needles
- Mother to child, before or after birth
- Infected body fluids in contact with:
- Mucous membranes
- Cuts in the skin
Program Objective
- Provide participants with easy access to education
and information about HIV/AIDS
- Increase understanding of HIV/AIDS
- Increase knowledge of the effects of HIV/AIDS
on the immune system
- Educate participants about methods to reduce
the spread of HIV/AIDS
